CREA’s Sexuality, Gender and Rights Institute is an annual residential course that focuses on a conceptual study of sexuality. It examines the links between sexuality, rights, gender, and health and their interface with socio-cultural and legal issues. Individuals working on issues of sexuality, LGBT rights, sexual rights, sexual and reproductive health and rights, HIV/AIDS, violence against women, or gender, based in India or working on these issues related to India, are eligible to apply. A small number of spaces will be reserved for candidates of other South Asian countries.

Venue & Dates

The Sexuality, Gender and Rights Institute will be held in Khandala, India, during January 8 – 12, 2018. Participants must commit to participating in the entire 5-day course (8 January, 9 am to 12 January, 5 pm), including attending all sessions and completing all assignments. Sessions run from 9 am to 6 pm every day; films are shown at night; reading is completed during reading periods and during extra time..


Participants are responsible for incurring their travel costs to and from the Institute.

Registration Costs

This cost will cover tuition, resource package, accommodation on a twin-sharing basis during 7 - 12 January 2018, and all meals. Please note this is a highly subsidised cost for participation.
